The Healing Art of Journaling

Journaling is like tending to a garden; it requires commitment, care, and the foresight to know that the seeds you plant today will bear fruit in the future. The act of putting pen to paper is a therapeutic exercise that can help clear mental clutter and provide a fresh perspective. By documenting your thoughts, emotions, and experiences, you create a personal account that serves as a tool for reflection and a testament to your inner journey.

When we lost our mother back in 2023 one of the first things suggested to deal with the overwhelming grief or other life events going on at the time was journaling.  Putting on the emotions, feelings, thoughts and whatever else came to the surface in writing.  Journaling gives those things we tend to keep inside or obsess over a place to express themselves freely and openly.  It can be extremely calming and healing to have such a space to sit with both pleasant and unpleasant emotions.

Journaling can be used to reflect on feelings, explore the past, set goals, practice gratitude or even to have conversations with those we lost.  Some use journaling as place to express their emotions more artistically in the form of art, song lyrics or poetry. I encourage others to try journaling.  Don’t put any pressure on yourself just flow with how you feel and what first comes into your thoughts.  There is no perfect way to journal it’s finding what works for you and brings you healing and peace.

Forest bathing definitely works. All the green calms me, it’s therapeutic. 💚
